BYU Cougars Biography / HistoryTeam ChatWhile Brigham Young University did not officially start their Collegiate Football History until the 1922 season, it is important to note that this University's predecessors did play football under two other names:
From 1876 to 1903 as Brigham Young Academy In 1903, Brigham Young Academy split into two separate institutions: * Brigham Young High School * Brigham Young University It is for this reason that while games played between the 1890's through 1921 were done as "Brigham Young Academy", they are still indicated as "BYU", since they are tied to BYU's actual football history.
